Trained Cats

Training cats is usually a process that most cat owners go through when they take up a cat as a pet. Usually it?s a fulfilling process that enables the cat and the human to develop a deep and meaningful bond that otherwise would not have been possible. The primary objective of all cat training may revolve around teaching the cat to use the litter box but often it is only about making the pet a well behaved one. Its essential to first understand the process by which cats themselves learn, which is through experience.

They will repeat any action if the experience they had was good. Therefore the crux of teaching any cat any particular thing is to associate the reward with as being extremely rewarding and pleasurable and if the trainer wishes to stop the cat from doing something then there should be pain associated with that action.

There are a number of things that a cat can be trained to do. These things include training a cat to come when called. A cat may learn early on that when it hears the sounds that make up its name, pleasant things will follow, such as food or affection. As a result, it will learn to come when called, and this behavior will at a later stage become automatic with regular rewards.

Cats can be made to perform tricks. Some cats can be trained to do tricks, but this usually requires a lot of work and patience on the part of trainers. Several cats can be trained to hunt for treats or toys, and some can be taught to fetch and bring toys. Many owners have also been successful in training cats to jump at targets, run obstacle courses, and do a number of other tricks.

Lots of cats usually learn to walk in a harness with a leash, and this enables trainers to take their cats for walks so that they can enjoy outdoor time without risking the dangers of cars, pet thieves, and enemies. However, if this training is not conducted properly, the cat may just dig in its heels and refuse to budge.
