Types of Cats

There are different kinds of types of cats. Different breeds of cats have differing characteristics. For example, some cat breeds are long-haired while others are short-haired; some grow to be large, while some cats stay tiny or small. Some cat breeds may have long tails, while other cat breeds may have short tails. It?s important to know that a mixed-breed cat is one which has parents that belong to different breeds altogether.

 

A mixed breed usually displays a combination of characteristics from a large number of breeds. One of the primary ways to examine some of the different cat breeds is by comparing their coats or fur.

The following breeds are some of the popular long-haired and short-haired breeds.

 

Himalayan: It's similar to the Persian cat in the sense that it has a short and heavy body. They are a result of the breeding between the Persian and the Siamese breeds. They happen to be mild mannered and loyal since they are fun and playful.

Javanese: This breed results from breeders who loved Siamese cats and who just wanted to modify the Siamese cat to its liking. They are found with a wide range of skin colors and it?s prominent due to the texture of its skin color

Somali: The Somali breed is very extroverted and athletic. It is also known for being affectionate, and playful. It happens to be a good mouse hunter since it enjoys running outside. These cats love being around people, but happen to be insistent while seeking attention. They happen to be larger in size with a graceful muscular development which enables it to be sharp and lithe.

 

Bombay: The Bombay is very smart and energetic. They are usually calm, friendly, and affectionate but prefer to be Top Cat around the house. This breed of cat will talk to you, some more so than others. They like to be involved in human interests just because they enjoy human company. This cat is a very playful breed.
